Sector Commander Level Border Co-Ordination Meeting Between, Border Security Force Dhubri(India) and Border Guard Bangladesh Rangpur Sector(Bangladesh)
Dhubri, May 22, 2024: Today, a sector commander-level border coordination meeting took place at the Land Custom Station, Sonahat, on the Indian side. The meeting involved senior officials from the Border Security Force (BSF) of Dhubri, India, and the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) from the Rangpur sector, Bangladesh.
Deputy Inspector General Ashutosh Sharma led the BSF delegation, which included Commandant Sanjiv Joshi and other senior officers. The BGB delegation was headed by Deputy Director General MD Mamunur Rashid and included Commanding Officer MD Masudur Rahaman, two staff officers, and two company commanders.
The BSF delegation warmly welcomed the BGB team, and a Guard of Honour was presented to the BGB Sector Commander. DIG Ashutosh Sharma expressed gratitude for the cordial relations between the two border security forces. He also thanked the BGB for maintaining peace and tranquility along the Indo-Bangladesh international border.
Both commanders discussed key issues, focusing on maintaining peace and preventing crimes along the border. They expressed concerns about cattle and drug smuggling and agreed on preventive measures. These measures include increasing border patrols, timely information exchange, educating border populations, and enforcing restrictions to curb cross-border crimes.
The meeting concluded on a positive note with the exchange of pleasantries, reflecting the strong cooperation and mutual respect between the two neighboring countries’ border forces.
