Sunrisers Hyderabad Win Over Chennai Super Kings in 2024 IPL
Sports Desk, April 06, 2024: In a commendable return to form, Sunrisers Hyderabad secured a decisive six-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) on Friday.
Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, Sunrisers Hyderabad, led by captain Pat Cummins, successfully maintained a tight grip on Chennai Super Kings’ run rate in the initial eight overs. The early breakthrough came from Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who dismissed Rachin Ravindra for 12 off nine balls. CSK’s captain Ruturaj Gaikwad followed suit, falling to Shahbaz Ahmed in the eighth over after scoring 26 off 21 deliveries.
However, the momentum shifted in Chennai’s favor with the entrance of Shivam Dube. Dube’s aggressive batting saw him smashing 45 runs off just 24 balls, propelling CSK to a promising 119/2 by the 14th over. His dismissal by Pat Cummins, though, marked a turning point in the game. Following Dube’s exit, Sunrisers Hyderabad tightened their bowling and effectively choked CSK’s scoring rate. The last five overs proved economical for SRH, conceding only 38 runs. Chennai Super Kings concluded their innings at 165/5.
In pursuit of the target, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Abhishek Sharma provided a blazing start with a rapid 37 off just 12 balls. Aiden Markram’s composed 50 off 36 balls and Travis Head’s valuable 31 off 24 balls further consolidated SRH’s position. Ultimately, Sunrisers Hyderabad achieved the target with six wickets in hand, marking a convincing victory and a much-needed return to winning ways in the 2024 IPL campaign.
