NFR Enhances Festive Connectivity with 26 Special Trains for October-November Travel
Guwahati: The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has announced the introduction of 26 special trains to accommodate the expected surge in passenger traffic during the upcoming festive season. These trains will run from October 1 to November 30, coinciding with the major festivals of Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath Puja. This initiative is aimed at ensuring a smoother and more comfortable travel experience for passengers during these celebrations.
According to an official statement issued on Sunday, a total of 254 trips have been planned with these special trains, marking a significant increase from last year. The number of trains and trips has nearly doubled compared to the previous year, indicating the railway’s proactive approach to managing the heavy demand during the festive period.
The special trains will connect several key cities across India, including Amritsar, Bengaluru, Gorakhpur, Prayagraj, Kolkata, Anand Vihar, and Shri Ganganagar. In addition, the NFR is strengthening its internal connectivity within its jurisdiction, linking important locations such as Agartala, Naharlagun, Silchar, New Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, and Katihar.
With the introduction of these special services, NFR aims to provide greater convenience for passengers traveling to and from various regions, ensuring they can celebrate the festive season without worrying about transportation challenges. This strategic move by NFR highlights its commitment to improving passenger services during peak travel times.
