Mizoram Police Seize Suspected Heroin Worth ₹11.34 Lakh in Aizawl; Two Arrested
Desk Report, September 20, 2024: In a joint operation, Mizoram Police intercepted a vehicle and seized suspected heroin valued at ₹11.34 lakh. The operation, led by a team from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the Special Narcotics Police Station, began on September 18, 2024. Acting on reliable intelligence, the team stopped a Mahindra Bolero (registration number MN 05 A 9339) near Bawngkawn Traffic Point, Aizawl, on the morning of September 19, 2024, at around 7:45 AM.
During the search, officers found 378 grams of suspected heroin, hidden in 30 soap cases. The drugs were in the possession of the driver, Lenminpao (34), and his passenger, Haumingsen Suantak (28), both residents of Churachandpur, Manipur.
A case has been registered under Special Narcotics Police Station Case No. 37/24 dated September 19, 2024, under sections 21(c), 25, and 29(1) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (ND&PS) Act. The investigation continues, with police exploring both the origins and future links of the narcotics network.
