Exotic Animals Seized in Maxi Cab at Kanhmun Police Check Gate by Mizoram Police
Desk Report, May 31, 2024: Kanhmun Police personnel of Mizoram Police intercepted a Maxi Cab commuting between Aizawl and Agartala at the Kanhmun Police Check Gate. The vehicle, registration number TR 06 0002, was driven by Chawngthanmawia from Amapur District, Tripura, who also owned the cab.
Upon inspection, officers discovered 18 snakes, 4 turtles, and 2 monkeys inside the vehicle. The animals were promptly seized. Chawngthanmawia revealed that Binoi Molsom, also known as Sanga Molsom, had sent the parcels containing the exotic animals from Zodin Bus Stand in Aizawl, Mizoram. He had instructed Chawngthanmawia to deliver the parcels to a person named Sumo at Samuli Bazar, GB Agartala.
Meanwhile, Sairang Police located and apprehended Binoi Molsom in Silai Mual Melthum, Aizawl, Mizoram. He is from North Tripura and was detained for further investigation.
The seized exotic animals were handed over to the Range Officer of Kanhmun Forest Range under the Mizoram Forest Department for further legal action.
