Guwahati Police Foils Cattle Smuggling Attempt at Saraighat Bridge
Guwahati, September 21, 2024: In a swift operation last night, the West Guwahati Police District team intercepted a truck at the Saraighat Bridge. The vehicle, identified as AS 01 RC 2844, was attempting to smuggle 27 live cattle.
Officers from the Jalukbari Out Post acted quickly to stop the truck during their routine patrol. They found the animals packed inside the vehicle, raising immediate concerns for their welfare.
The police arrested one suspect, Sabirul Alom, a resident of Sipajhar. He is now facing charges related to the smuggling operation.
Authorities have initiated legal action against Alom, demonstrating their commitment to combating illegal activities. The police are urging the public to report any suspicious activities in their area.
