Guwahati Police Crack Down on Drug Trafficking and Theft with Significant Arrests
Guwahati, June 18, 2024: The East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) successfully conducted two significant operations resulting in the apprehension of suspects involved in drug trafficking and theft.
In the first operation, an EGPD team from Basistha Police Station arrested Miro Pegu, 23, at the Khanapara Flyover. Pegu, a resident of Khanapara, was found in possession of 36 vials of suspected heroin, weighing 48 grams. Additionally, the police seized 200 empty vials and one mobile phone from the suspect. Legal action has been initiated against Pegu as the investigation continues.
In a separate operation, an EGPD team from Dispur Police Station solved a theft case with the arrest of Manash Das. The police recovered various stolen items from Das, including five watches, one small torch, three mobile phones, ten ATM cards, two golden-colored glasses, five pliers, a scooty key, a hair dryer, an HDD, a RAM, a data storage device, an MS disc, a briefcase, a bag, and a golden-colored necklace. The police are conducting a further probe into the case.
