Assam Police Push Back Three Bangladeshi Nationals During Night Operation Along Indo-Bangladesh Border
Desk Report, September 12, 2024: In a continued effort to secure the Indo-Bangladesh border, Assam Police successfully identified and pushed back three Bangladeshi nationals during a nighttime operation. The incident took place in the early hours, as Assam Police heightened their vigilance to prevent illegal infiltration.
The individuals, identified as Sumon Hussain, Suhana Khatun, and Eva Aktar, were intercepted by the police near the border. Upon confirmation of their identities, Assam Police followed due procedures and pushed them back into Bangladeshi territory.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma commended the quick action of Assam Police through a post on his official “X” (formerly Twitter) account. “Good job Team!,” he praised, highlighting the consistent efforts of the police force to maintain border security.
This operation is part of the larger strategy to prevent illegal immigration and smuggling across the porous Indo-Bangladesh border, a major challenge for border districts in Assam. Authorities have intensified border patrolling, particularly during night hours, to deter any cross-border activity.
