Assam to Host India’s Second National Cyber Forensics Lab Under Safe Cyber Space Campaign
Guwahati, September 18, 2024: In a major step towards strengthening cyber security, Assam will soon host India’s second National Cyber Forensics Lab (NCFL). The initiative is part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Safe Cyber Space Campaign’. The lab will be established at Lachit Barphukan Police Academy and will play a crucial role in aiding investigative agencies. It will help prevent, mitigate, and prosecute cyber crimes.
An official Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed today between Assam Police and the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. This collaboration will enhance Assam’s capacity to tackle rising cyber threats.
Expressing gratitude, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared his appreciation through his social media platform ‘X’. He thanked Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Minister of State Nityanand Rai for their support in bringing this vital facility to Assam.
The new NCFL will significantly boost the state’s efforts in cyber crime investigations, reinforcing the government’s commitment to ensuring a safer cyber space for citizens across India.
