5 ACS Officers Suspended by Assam Government for Ignoring Transfer Instructions
Guwahati: The Assam Government has taken strict action by suspending five Assam Civil Service (ACS) officers for failing to report to their new assignments. These officers, transferred to election-related duties in line with the Election Commission’s requirements, did not assume their designated roles, prompting the government to respond.
The suspended officers are Kongkan Jyoti Saikia, Parishmita Dehingia, Jintu Sarma, Saroj Kumar Deka, and Kabyashree Dihingia. Despite receiving formal orders for their new assignments, they failed to report for duty, which the government views as a breach of office discipline and a disregard for public interest. This action is a violation of government orders and is seen as undermining office decorum.
The transfer of these officers was part of a regular administrative routine essential to ensure smooth election operations. However, the lack of compliance raised concerns within the government. Consequently, a departmental inquiry has been initiated to determine the reasons for their non-compliance and to assess their commitment to official responsibilities.
The Assam Government emphasizes that adherence to official duties, especially during election periods, is vital to maintain the integrity of public administration. The inquiry aims to examine any underlying issues behind the officers’ failure to fulfill their duties.
