Assam Chief Minister Reviews Assam Arogya Nidhi Assistance and Approves Urgent Medical Funds
Guwahati, July 06, 2024: In a crucial meeting held on Friday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma chaired the Governing Body session of the Assam Arogya Nidhi (AAN). The agenda focused on a comprehensive review of the assistance provided under the AAN and the approval of necessary funds for urgent medical assistance.
Chief Minister Sarma underscored the need for prioritizing the most critical cases, particularly those suffering from rare diseases and cancer patients who are not covered under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) or the Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana (MMJAY). Additionally, he emphasized the importance of addressing genuine cases that do not fall under any existing medical aid schemes.
During the meeting, directives were issued to Medical College Principals, Public Representatives, and Deputy Commissioners, empowering them to refer deserving cases under the AAN framework. This initiative aims to streamline the process and ensure that medical assistance reaches those in dire need promptly.
The Governing Body’s decisions reflect the Assam government’s commitment to enhancing healthcare support and providing timely aid to the state’s most vulnerable populations.
