Udalguri Police Seize Illegal Assault Rifle and Ammunition Cache, Arrest Two in Successful Operation
Desk Report, June 18, 2024: Udalguri Police conducted a successful operation on Monday resulting in the seizure of an illegal assault rifle and a significant cache of live ammunition, leading to the arrest of two individuals. The operation was spearheaded by Udalguri Superintendent of Police Pushkin Jain and was carried out in Shantipur near Gauribari.
The confiscated items included an AK-56 assault rifle, a magazine, and a total of 668 rounds of live ammunition. G P Singh, Assam’s Director General of Police, commended the efforts of the police team. In a statement posted on X, he underscored the recovery, stating, “One AK Series Rifle, 668 rounds ammunition & a magazine recovered in Udalguri. Two persons arrested.”
The operation has been hailed as a significant success in the ongoing efforts to curb illegal firearms and ammunition trafficking in the region.
