STF Cracks Down on IPL Betting Ring in Bilasipara, Arrests Two Suspects
Dhubri, May 25, 2024: In a decisive operation conducted by the Special Task Force (STF), illegal betting activities associated with the Indian Premier League (IPL) were targeted in Bilasipara, Dhubri, during the early hours of Saturday. The operation led to the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of various electronic devices and materials linked to the betting activities.
Acting on meticulously gathered intelligence and surveillance, the STF initiated the operation aimed at dismantling the illicit betting network operating in the area. The suspects, identified as Sahidul Islam and Mozidul Islam, were apprehended in possession of electronic devices believed to have been utilized for betting purposes, alongside other pertinent items.
Following their arrest, both individuals were transferred to the Bilasipara Police Station for further legal proceedings. Authorities are expected to undertake appropriate legal measures against the accused in accordance with the law.
The items recovered during the operation include mobile phone handsets and banking documents from Sahidul Islam, and electronic devices along with personal identification from Mozidul Islam. These materials are considered crucial evidence for the ongoing investigations.
This operation underscores the STF’s commitment to eradicating illegal betting activities and ensuring the integrity of sporting events in the region.
