Senior Engineer Caught Red-Handed by Anti-Corruption in Assam
Guwahati, May 13, 2024: In a recent operation conducted by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption in Assam, a senior engineer was apprehended at the office of the Public Health Engineering Department under the North Lakhimpur circle in Hengrabari, Guwahati. The accused, identified as Jayanta Goswami, was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe he had solicited.
Goswami, serving as the executive engineer (PHE) at the office of the Superintending Engineer (PHE), North Lakhimpur Circle, fell under the scrutiny of the anti-corruption agency following a complaint lodged by a concerned citizen. The complaint alleged that Goswami had demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 in exchange for expediting the clearance of pending bills.
Acting upon the complaint, the anti-corruption agency orchestrated a sting operation, resulting in Goswami’s apprehension as he accepted the illicit payment from the complainant.
