Sarbananda Sonowal Receives Warm Reception from Assam BJP Leadership
Guwahati, June 23, 2024: The Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, received a warm reception from Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, state BJP President Bhabesh Kalita, and numerous party workers at the BJP Head Office yesterday. The event celebrated the BJP’s significant victory in the recent Lok Sabha elections.
Sarbananda Sonowal secured the Dibrugarh constituency with a historic margin and was reappointed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the Cabinet Minister for Ports, Shipping & Waterways. Newly appointed Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles, Pabitra Margherita, and other newly elected MPs were also honored at the event.
Speaking at the event, Sarbananda Sonowal emphasized the BJP’s commitment to nation-building, guided by the principle of “nation above all.” He praised Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, noting the historic development in the Northeast and Assam over the past decade. Sonowal attributed the BJP’s success in Assam to the people’s will, highlighting the party’s understanding of regional issues and effective governance under Modi.
Sarbananda Sonowal stated, “BJP is a beacon of hope for all. The party has supported an ordinary worker like me, and I have served to the best of my abilities.” He congratulated Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and President Bhabesh Kalita for their hard work, expressing gratitude to the BJP and allied workers for their dedicated service, which secured the historic victory.
He further highlighted the transformative development across the country under Modi’s leadership, particularly in the Northeast. He noted that India, now the fifth-largest economy, is rapidly progressing towards becoming one of the top three economies by 2030. Modi’s efforts have brought transparency in governance and empowerment at all levels, with significant investment in the Northeast to address decades of neglect and corruption under the previous Congress regime.
Sonowal urged continued efforts towards building a developed and self-reliant India by 2047, as envisioned by Prime Minister Modi. He expressed deep gratitude to the people of Assam for their unwavering support and to the BJP alliance workers for their hard work in strengthening the party’s base.
