Goalpara, January 21, 2024 – In a joyous resurgence of tradition, the Katarihara Peer Dargah in the Jaleshwar Legislative Assembly of Goalpara District has commenced its annual Urus celebrations on January 20. The sacred event unfolds at the Katarihara Alie Kamil Shah Sayed Nasir Uddin Ahmed Kadari Baghdadi Dargah, observing the 8th day of Magh each year to commemorate the anniversary of a departed soul.
Islamic devotees, both local and from neighboring states, traditionally gather at the Dargah during this period to engage in prayers and seek blessings. Notably, the Urus celebration had been paused for the past three years due to the constraints imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
This year, however, marks a significant revival as the Urus festivities are set to continue till January 23. The atmosphere is charged with spiritual fervor and communal joy, signifying the resilience and return of this cherished religious observance after a prolonged hiatus.
