Priyanka Gandhi Vadra Launches Scathing Critique of BJP Government at Dhubri Election Rally
Dhubri, May 01, 2024: Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Congress National General Secretary, gave a very determined and passionate speech in Dhubri at an election rally. She criticized the BJP-led government severely for playing appeasement politics over public welfare. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra spoke eloquently and with conviction in support of Congress candidate Rakibul Hussain while also pointing out that there is alleged favoritism towards billionaire businessmen against the common man.
Gandhi Vadra referred to her brother’s recent countrywide rally as a shining example of national unity based on India’s rich tapestry of religious coexistence. However, she then went on to express concern about what she sees as an increasingly oppressive political environment where media freedom and public dissent are being curtailed under the ruling party BJP.
The leader compared how things are run under BJP rule in Assam state with Congress-led states elsewhere in India by saying mafia raj is rampant here along with no interest shown towards people’s well-being. In particular singling out Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma whom she accused having been let off lightly from serious charges when he defected from Congress to join the saffron outfit BJP describing it as “washing machine” for corrupt individuals within its ranks.
Gandhi Vadra showed her support for the marginalized by pointing out the social and economic problems made worse by the government’s wrong direction. She criticized how BJP handles emergencies and the effect of GST on prices of necessary goods.
This is not Gandhi Vadra’s first attempt at involving herself in Assam’s politics. When she came before on April 16, it was with the intention of rallying behind Gaurav Gogoi who is running for Congress as a Jorhat assembly representative.
Unshaken by any obstacles, Gandhi Vadra painted a picture of all-encompassing rule that would be put in place if Congress were elected; she promised actions aimed at bettering women’s lives and those living on margins. Gandhi Vadra also said that each woman should be given an assured monthly income while half of central government jobs must be reserved for them which reaffirms party commitment towards gender equality and social justice.
In one touching moment, Gandhi Vadra lambasted BJP for having double standards when dealing with crises – according to her they only care about rich industrialists but tea garden laborers are left suffering due to governmental neglect.
Making an emotional appeal, Gandhi Vadra implored voters to closely examine what their leaders do and opt for change during upcoming elections; this is based off “Nyay Patra,” a manifesto by Congress aimed at exposing BJP’s fake promises besides bringing back responsibility into governance so that no one feels left out.
As Assam braces for the third phase of Lok Sabha elections, with 47 candidates contesting across four constituencies, the political atmosphere is charged with anticipation. With the final phase scheduled for May 7, the state prepares for a significant electoral showdown, as parties intensify their campaigns to secure voter support.
