Large Quantity of Fake Currency Seized by Ginjia Police Station in Biswanath
Biswanath, June 27, 2024: In a significant operation, the Official of Ginjia Police Station in Biswanath successfully seized a large quantity of counterfeit currency. The fake notes, amounting to Rs 3,50,500, were discovered in a packed bag aboard a bus named “Anamika” which was en route to Lakhimpur from Biswanath Chariali.
The police have apprehended a suspect, identified as Minara Begum, who was allegedly transporting the fake currency. Minara Begum, a resident of Islampur Part II in Bangalmara, Lakhimpur district, was found in possession of the counterfeit notes, all of which were in Rs 500 denominations.
Initial investigations have revealed that Minara Begum procured the fake notes from Nagaon and was attempting to distribute them. The authorities have intensified their probe to uncover further details regarding the source and distribution network of the counterfeit currency.
The successful operation by the Ginjia Police highlights their commitment to combating illegal activities and maintaining law and order in the region.
