Petrol Pump Strike Declared by Northeast India Petroleum Dealers Association
Guwahati, March 29, 2024: The Northeast India Petroleum Dealers Association has announced a 48-hour petrol pump strike starting from 5:00 AM on March 30 to 5:00 AM on April 1. The decision was made following a unanimous agreement during a general meeting held at the association’s office in Uzanbazar, Guwahati.
The strike, termed as a ‘Protest Closure of No Purchase No Sale’, has been called in response to the non-revision and non-enhancement of the Dealers Commission since 2017. The association has also highlighted several other demands, citing violations of the dealer’s rights in a letter addressed to all major Oil companies.
Despite a manifold increase in the expenses incurred in running the Retail Outlets (RO), the Dealers Association pointed out that the lack of revision in the commission has made it increasingly challenging for dealers to sustain their business operations.
The notification issued by the association underscores the growing concerns among petrol pump dealers in the region, emphasizing the urgent need for a review and enhancement of the commission structure to ensure the viability and sustainability of their trade.
