NF Railway Extends Services of Key Trains to Enhance Connectivity in Northeast
Guwahati, June 16, 2024: In response to the long-standing demands of residents in South Tripura and Assam’s Jorhat district, the Northeast Frontier (NF) Railway has announced the extension of two key train services. The changes will take effect from June 16.
The Sealdah-Agartala-Sealdah Kanchanjungha Express, train numbers 13173 and 13174, will now run from Agartala to Sabroom. The Alipurduar Junction-Lumding-Alipurduar Junction Intercity Express, train numbers 15769 and 15770, will extend its route from Lumding to Mariani.
Starting June 16, the Sealdah-Sabroom Kanchanjungha Express (train no. 13173) will depart from Sealdah at 6:50 AM every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday, arriving in Sabroom at 8:00 PM the next day. The return journey (train no. 13174) will leave Sabroom at 6:20 AM on every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday, reaching Sealdah at 7:20 PM the following day.
This extension provides direct rail connectivity from Tripura’s southernmost areas to Kolkata, enhancing travel convenience for passengers.
Additionally, the Alipurduar Jn.-Mariani Intercity Express (train no. 15769) will depart from Alipurduar Jn. at 3:45 AM daily, arriving in Mariani at 8:00 PM the same day. The return service (train no. 15770) will leave Mariani at 9:15 AM daily, reaching Alipurduar Jn. at 12:50 AM the next day.
These extensions will improve rail connectivity between Upper Assam and North Bengal, boosting economic activities in the region.
