Manipur Police Uncovers Significant Weapons Cache in Kakching and Kangpokpi
Desk Report, June 24, 2024: Manipur Police recently carried out search operations in Kakching and Kangpokpi districts, uncovering a significant cache of weapons and ammunition.
During the operation in Kakching District’s Khoidum Mamang Leikai area, authorities recovered one country-made pistol, four 36 MMKI hand grenades without detonators, one Chinese hand grenade, five tube launchers, and one carbine with a magazine containing ten live rounds. Additionally, they found eight tear smoke shells, one smoke grenade, and one Baofeng wireless set complete with batteries and chargers.
In another successful operation in Kangpokpi District’s Old Bijang area, police seized one MA 3 Mk II assault rifle with a magazine and sling, one 7.62 mm self-loading rifle with a magazine and sling, and ten live rounds. The search also yielded one single-barrel rifle, one improvised pump action gun, an ammunition pouch, six olive green jackets, and one pair of jungle shoes.
These operations underscore the ongoing efforts by Manipur Police to enhance security and ensure public safety in vulnerable areas. The successful recoveries of these weapons highlight the diligence and dedication of the law enforcement teams involved.
