Manipur Police Apprehends Suspect in Ukhrul in Manipur, Seizes Cache of Arms and Currency
Desk Report, April 11, 2024: In a significant operation conducted on the 10th of April, 2024, Manipur Police apprehended an individual identified as Nganingmi Vashum, aged 43, from Ukhrul, Manipur. The arrest was followed by a meticulous search of the suspect’s residence, resulting in the seizure of a substantial quantity of illicit materials.
Among the items confiscated were a total of Rs. 13,11,130/- (Thirteen Lakhs Eleven Thousand One Hundred and Thirty) in cash, indicative of potential illegal financial activities. In addition to the currency, law enforcement officers uncovered a significant arsenal of weaponry, including a 9mm Carbine with magazine, one Country-made Pistol with magazine, and one Chinese Hand grenade. Furthermore, the discovery included three Slings, one 12 Gauge Shotgun, one hundred and ninety-eight live ammunitions, and six fired cartridges, highlighting the gravity of the apprehension.
The seizure underscores the proactive efforts of the Manipur Police in combating illegal arms trafficking and organized crime within the region. Investigations into the matter are ongoing, with authorities striving to ascertain the origins and intended use of the confiscated items.
