Manipur Police Recover Significant Cache of Arms, Ammunition, and Narcotics in Coordinated Operations
Desk Report, June 02, 2024: In a series of coordinated search operations, Manipur Police have successfully recovered a significant cache of arms, ammunition, and narcotics. The operations were carried out in vulnerable areas of Wakan ridges under Saikul Police Station, Kangpokpi District, and in the fringe areas of Tamlok under Nungba Police Station, Noney District.
Wakan Ridges, Saikul Police Station:
During the search operations in Wakan ridges, the police recovered the following items:
– 01 AK 56 rifle with magazine (7.62 mm)
– 01 Carbine with magazine (9 mm)
– 02 Country-made pistols with magazines (9 mm)
– 01 Pistol (4 mm, made in India)
– 02 Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs)
– 01 Tear smoke shell (chilli)
– 02 12 bore illumination rounds
– 01 2-inch Mortar illumination bomb with bomb case
– 01 2-inch Mortar smoke bomb Mk-2 with bomb case
– 01 CMG bayonet
– 14 Tube launching 1A
Tamlok, Nungba Police Station:
In a separate operation in Tamlok, the police recovered:
– 02 Carbine Machine Guns with 02 magazines
– 02 Pistols with magazines (9 mm)
– 03 Pistols with magazines (32 mm)
– 01 Revolver
– 01 Chinese hand grenade
– 01 Vintage grenade-based IED with IED making materials
– 01 Detonator
– 12 Live rounds
– 01 Communication radio set
Additionally, on May 31, 2024, an individual named Chinngaivung (30) was arrested near Shiva Mandir on Dalpati Road under Moreh Police Station. The following items were seized from her possession:
– 60 packets containing suspected brown sugar, weighing 27 grams (including packing material)
– 2000 packing pipe packets
– 15 pieces of gemstones
– 47 packets containing suspected WY tablets, weighing 971 grams (including packing material)
– ₹3.5 lakh in cash
