Major Heroin Seizure in Karimganj: Police Intercept Car Carrying Drugs Worth Crores
Desk Report, April 04, 2024: Karimganj Police have made a significant breakthrough in their efforts to combat illegal narcotics trade as they intercepted a car near the Kaisthagram area in Karimganj district, seizing heroin worth crores of rupees. Led by Superintendent of Police Parth Pratim Das, officials discovered 601.83 grams of heroin concealed within a hidden chamber of the vehicle. The car, registered under the number AS 10 G 0379, was reportedly traveling from Mizoram when it was intercepted.
The apprehension of the car and subsequent recovery of the heroin signify a crucial development in the ongoing endeavors to curb illegal narcotics trade in the region. The individual arrested, whose identity remains undisclosed, has been taken into custody.
The seizure of heroin, valued at crores, underscores the significance of the operation and its potential impact on curtailing the flow of narcotics into the area. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has also commended the efforts of Karimganj Police through his social media channels.
