Hojai District Headquarters Officially Renamed Srimanta Sankardev Nagar

Guwahati: The Assam Cabinet has approved renaming Sankardev Nagar to Srimanta Sankardev Nagar. This decision honors Gurujona Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev, a revered figure in Assam’s history and culture.

Currently, Sankardev Nagar serves as the district headquarters of Hojai. The name commemorates Srimanta Sankardev’s unmatched contributions to Assam’s cultural and spiritual legacy. The Cabinet’s move further emphasizes the state government’s commitment to preserving and promoting its heritage.
