Guwahati Police Nab Suspected Drug Dealer in Guwahati; Seize Heroin and Stolen Goods
Guwahati, June 22, 2024: In a significant breakthrough, a team from the Pan Bazaar Police Station, Central Guwahati Police District (CGPD), apprehended Sorbanu Begum, alias Marjina, from Boko. The arrest was made following the discovery of 30 vials containing suspected heroin, weighing approximately 39.92 grams, and two soap boxes filled with suspected heroin, weighing a total of 24.2 grams. In addition to the narcotics, officers seized Rs 3,100 in cash, one mobile phone, one knife, and various documents from her possession.
Subsequent investigations led the police to Begum’s rented accommodation in Dhirenpara, Guwahati. A thorough search of the premises resulted in the recovery of several stolen items, including two laptops, five mobile phones, gold ornaments weighing 4.02 grams, Rs 6,731 in cash, eight packets of vials, and two additional soap boxes.

The Central Guwahati Police District is intensifying its investigation to uncover further details of Begum’s involvement in the narcotics trade and to identify any potential accomplices.
