Guwahati Police Arrest Armed Suspect Following Foiled Robbery Attempt
Guwahati, June 13, 2024: In a significant breakthrough, a team from Latashil Police Station has arrested 22-year-old Abhishek Thakur of Chandmari at Hedayatpur. Thakur was apprehended in possession of a country-made pistol, pepper spray, and an iPhone.
The arrest followed an earlier incident on GNB Road where vigilant citizens thwarted an attempted robbery. The accused had allegedly tried to steal a jewellery box from a local jewellery shop. Prompt action by bystanders prevented the robbery, leading to Thakur’s subsequent capture by law enforcement.
A thorough investigation led to a search of Thakur’s rented accommodation, resulting in the recovery of additional incriminating items. Authorities seized four live rounds of ammunition, a knife, ₹1,500 in cash, three laptops, and a scooty bearing registration number AS 01 EK 4045. Documents pertaining to an NGO were also discovered on the premises.
