Gamblers Arrested in Gauripur During IPL Betting Raid
Dhubri, March 30, 2024: In a significant crackdown on illegal gambling activities tied to the Indian Premier League (IPL), the Gauripur Police apprehended two individuals, identified as Taiyub Ali and Abdul Malek. The operation, spearheaded by Gauripur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Jitumoni Baishya and Town Sub-Inspector Bikash Pratim Mahanta, culminated in the arrest of the aforementioned gamblers.
Acting on intelligence and meticulous planning, the police team executed a raid in Gauripur Kathalartal Rowa Part III village, resulting in the successful apprehension of the suspects. During the operation, Police seized four mobile phones, along with a substantial sum of Rs 1,89,100 in cash believed to be proceeds from illicit IPL betting activities.

Police suspect that an additional amount totaling approximately Rs 20 lakh was concealed within the premises, indicative of the scale of the unlawful enterprise. It was revealed that the perpetrators had attempted to conceal the illicit gains upon learning of the impending police intervention.
