Police Bust Major Drug Syndicate in Guwahati, Seize Large Quantities of Heroin
Guwahati, July 03, 2024: In a significant crackdown, the Special Operation Group of the Central Guwahati Police District, along with Chandmari Police Station officers, dismantled a drug supply syndicate. The operation began with the arrest of Mintu Rahman, leading to further breakthroughs.
Following Rahman’s confession, police arrested Kamal Das of Jalukbari. He was found with two packets of suspected heroin, weighing 29 grams. Authorities also seized a car, registration number AS 25 CC 2401, at Adabari, Guwahati.
The operation didn’t stop there. Officers raided Das’s residence, uncovering 20 more packets of suspected heroin in soap boxes. These packets weighed a total of 249 grams. Pompi Das, the peddler’s wife, was also apprehended. Additionally, two bikes, registration numbers AS 01 EJ 9328 and AS 01 EZ 1913, were seized. Legal proceedings have been initiated.
In another operation, the Central Guwahati Police District team from Paltan Bazaar Police Station arrested Rijul Hussain, 38, of Bihata Chariali. Hussain was caught with vials of suspected heroin, weighing 24.47 grams, at Birubari Tiniali last evening. The police also seized a scooty, registration number AS 01 FJ 3751, and a mobile phone. Legal action has commenced against Hussain.
In a separate operation, the East Guwahati Police District team from Sonapur Police Station recovered a reported stolen Pulsar bike, registration number AS 21 L 6310. Khairul Islam, 19, of Hosna Bazar, Mayong, was arrested for the theft. Legal proceedings are underway.
