Chief Minister Reviews Key Infrastructure Projects; Sets Priorities for State Development
Guwahati: Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, in a detailed review meeting with Public Works Department (PWD-Building), reviewed the progress of major infrastructure projects undertaken in the state. The review meeting focused on projects under PMDevINE and NESIDS.
The CM also reviewed two education-linked schemes: Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Awasiya Vidyalaya, aimed at upgraded educational facilities for the underprivileged in Assam.
Dr. Sarma asked the departments to focus on key projects during the meeting, including construction and reconstruction at Nehru Stadium in Guwahati. He included Darrang, Hojai, and Hailakandi Medical Colleges as the points on the list of top-priority projects under construction that are highly essential in extending health services in the state.
In addition, the Chief Minister reviewed the progress of the ongoing works in the Convention Hall at Guwahati and the New Raj Bhavan and instructed the officials to ensure that both projects meet their deadlines and maintain the pace of execution.
The Chief Minister emphasized the need to adhere to qualitative and technical standards in every infrastructure project undertaken. He instructed PWD officials to ensure that in all aspects of construction, quality would be maintained, so as not to compromise either on safety grounds or on durability grounds.
By emphasizing such stern standards, the government was ensuring that the projects delivered were to serve their immediate purpose and stand the test of time. This review meeting also falls into place as part of the bigger vision that Assam has for rapid development in every sphere and modernization of its infrastructures. It also reiterated that more measures would not be shied away from to upgrade public amenities, increase healthcare facilities, and improve educational institutions across the state.
With a clear roadmap and set priorities, the administration continues its efforts to ensure holistic progress in Assam.
