Cachar Police Seize ₹7 Crore Worth of Heroin and YABA Tablets in Special Operation at Lailapur
In a significant breakthrough against drug trafficking, Cachar Police conducted a major operation in Lailapur, Cachar district, leading to a substantial contraband seizure. Acting on reliable intelligence, police officers intercepted a suspect’s vehicle, resulting in the confiscation of 30 soap boxes containing around 375 grams of suspected heroin and 20,000 YABA tablets. The estimated street value of the seized drugs is approximately ₹7 crore.
The coordinated raid highlights Cachar Police’s intensified efforts to curb the rising drug menace in the region. The operation’s success not only disrupts the local narcotics trade but also sends a strong message to those involved in drug trafficking.
Following the seizure, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to his microblogging platform, X, to express his appreciation for the dedicated efforts of the state’s law enforcement. He posted, “Kudos to Assam Police for their continued dedication! #AssamAgainstDrugs,” lauding the commitment shown by Cachar Police in their relentless battle against illegal drugs.
This high-value seizure emphasizes the effectiveness of Assam Police’s ongoing initiatives under the state’s anti-drug campaign, known as “Assam Against Drugs.” The campaign has increasingly gained traction, with law enforcement focusing on dismantling drug supply chains and holding traffickers accountable.
