BSF Seizes Cosmetic Items Worth Over Rs 4 Lakh at India-Bangladesh Border in Meghalaya
Desk Report, September 09, 2024: Acting on specific intelligence, alert troops of the 193 Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF), Meghalaya, successfully intercepted a large consignment of smuggled goods near the India-Bangladesh border. The operation took place after BSF personnel received information about the movement of suspicious cargo through the international border. In a swift response, BSF troops mobilized and strategically positioned themselves to thwart the smuggling attempt.
During the operation, the BSF personnel seized cosmetic items valued at over Rs 4 lakh. These products were being smuggled into Bangladesh through an unofficial route along the border in Meghalaya. The consignment included a variety of high-demand cosmetics, which smugglers were attempting to transport illegally. BSF officials stated that such operations are part of their ongoing efforts to curb cross-border smuggling activities, which pose a significant challenge to border security.
The successful operation by the BSF highlights their vigilance and effectiveness in maintaining the integrity of India’s borders. Officials emphasized that anti-smuggling operations will continue to intensify, with enhanced patrols and intelligence-sharing to ensure that illegal activities along the India-Bangladesh border are minimized.
