BSF and Aizawl Police Seize 4 Lakh Yaba Tablets Worth ₹40 Crore, Arrest Drug Peddler
Desk Report, September 21, 2024: In a major anti-drug operation, BSF and Aizawl Police seized 4 lakh Yaba tablets worth ₹40 crore. The operation took place on 19th September 2024, based on specific BSF intelligence. They intercepted a truck on NH-06 near the HP OP filling station in Seling, Aizawl, Mizoram.
The joint team conducted a thorough search of the vehicle in the presence of two independent witnesses and police officers. Hidden in the ceiling of the driver’s cabin, they found 40 packets containing the methamphetamine (Yaba) tablets. The arrested suspect was identified as the truck driver and owner, believed to be an Indian drug peddler.
It’s noteworthy that the Mizoram and Cachar Frontier BSF have seized over 6,29,880 Yaba tablets since January 2024 in their ongoing crackdown against drug trafficking. The BSF’s intensified efforts reflect their commitment to curbing illegal narcotics activities in the region.
