Assam STF Busts Fake Currency Operation in Guwahati, Seizes ₹5.67 Lakh and Equipment
Guwahati: Acting on a tip-off, the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam conducted a targeted raid in Guwahati city. The operation took place at Downtown under the jurisdiction of Dispur Police Station. It aimed to dismantle a fake currency network operating in the region.
During the operation, the team apprehended an individual suspected of involvement in the racket. The raid resulted in the seizure of several incriminating items, including Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) totaling ₹5.67 lakh.
Officials also seized a counterfeit currency printing machine, a mobile phone used for coordination, and a two-wheeler reportedly linked to the operation.
The STF’s swift action highlights its commitment to combating financial crimes in Assam. The apprehended individual is now in police custody, and further investigations are underway to trace the network’s links and collaborators.
