Assam Rifles Successfully Thwart Anti-National Activities: Seize 748 Kilograms of Explosives, Apprehend Two Suspects
Desk Report, March 13, 2024: In a significant development in the ongoing effort to combat anti-national activities, Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Sairang Police Station, Aizawl, successfully intercepted a consignment of explosives and detained two suspects at Sairang Junction, Aizawl.
The operation, carried out based on specific intelligence, resulted in the seizure of 28 cartons of True Blast slurry explosive, each weighing 25 kilograms, and four cartons of detonator caps, weighing 12 kilograms each. The combined weight of the seized materials amounts to approximately 750 kilograms.
Furthermore, three vehicles suspected to be involved in the transportation of these materials were also confiscated during the operation. The interception occurred along the Sairang Road, where three strategically positioned mobile vehicle check posts, supported by a main team, effectively halted the movement of the vehicles.

The apprehension of two individuals, who were operating the scooty and Tata Nexon vehicles, marks a significant breakthrough in disrupting illicit activities aimed at endangering national security. However, it was noted that the driver of the third vehicle, a pickup truck, was a juvenile who claimed ignorance of the cargo and was subsequently released.
This successful joint operation underscores the commitment of Assam Rifles and local law enforcement agencies to safeguarding the integrity and security of the region against nefarious activities. Investigations into the matter are ongoing to ascertain the full extent of the network involved in the illicit transportation of explosives.
