Major Drug Bust in Assam: Police Seize Heroin Worth Over Rs 1.15 Crore
Desk Report, May 27, 2024: In a pivotal advancement in the relentless endeavor to curb drug trafficking, Police in Assam’s Bokajan have achieved a significant breakthrough. In a meticulously executed operation, the Barpathar police orchestrated a raid at Khakrajan Naka on Sunday night, culminating in the seizure of a substantial quantity of narcotics with an estimated street value surpassing Rs 1.15 crore, according to police assessments.
The seizure, constituting a noteworthy victory in the battle against illicit drug trade, involved the discovery of approximately 554.66 grams of heroin. Ingeniously concealed within 45 plastic soap boxes, the illicit substances were stashed within a vehicle bearing the registration number AS 31 F 2466. The vehicle, suspected to be en route from Dimapur to Guwahati, was equipped with a clandestine compartment, facilitating the covert transportation of the contraband.
This successful interception underscores the efficacy of law enforcement efforts in thwarting the nefarious activities of drug syndicates operating within the region. The vigilant actions of the Barpathar police have not only disrupted the flow of narcotics but also dealt a significant blow to the criminal networks involved in their distribution.
