Assam Police Conduct Successful Anti-Narcotics Operations in Karimganj and Cachar
Desk Report, August 14, 2024: In two recent anti-narcotics operations, Assam Police seized over 600 grams of heroin in separate incidents in Karimganj and Cachar districts.
In the first operation, Karimganj Police intercepted a vehicle traveling from a neighboring state at Gilaiti Hills. A thorough search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 305 grams of heroin. Two individuals were apprehended in connection with the seizure.
Meanwhile, in a separate operation, Cachar Police intercepted a suspect at Sonai. After conducting a detailed search, officers recovered 330.07 grams of heroin, valued at ₹2 crore, from the individual’s possession. The suspect has been detained for further investigation.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised Assam Police for their successful operations, expressing his commendation on social media platform ‘X,’ saying, “Well done Team Assam! #AssamAgainstDrugs.”
These operations highlight Assam Police’s ongoing commitment to combating drug trafficking in the state.
