Assam Police Arrest Five for Smuggling 23 Cattle in Jorabat Operation
Guwahati: An East Guwahati Police District team from the Jorabat Out Post, under Basistha Police Station, intercepted a truck attempting to smuggle live cattle early this morning. The operation occurred at 9th Mile in Jorabat as the truck, bearing registration number AS 01 KC 7021, headed toward Meghalaya.
Accompanying the truck was a new Baleno car acting as an escort. Police identified the suspects in the car as Pankaj Das (25) and Mukshedur Rahman (25), both residents of Sipajhar. The truck carried three more individuals: Zakir Ali (25) of Barpeta, and Nur Alom (23) and Mahibul Ali (21), both from Tarabari. All five were arrested on the spot.
