Assam Govt. Distributes Permanent Appointment Letters to 23,956 Teachers, Boosting Education
Guwahati, September 02, 2024: Today, the Assam Government took a significant step toward improving education by distributing 23,956 permanent appointment letters to contractual teachers. These letters were handed over by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma during a ceremonial event. The teachers, part of the Samagra Shiksha, Assam program, teach in upper and lower primary schools across the state.
Education Minister Ranoj Pegu was the guest of honor at the event. Chief Minister Sarma took to X (formerly Twitter) to highlight this achievement, stating that Assam has reached another milestone. He reminded the audience that in 2021, his government had promised 1 lakh government jobs. With the distribution of these appointment letters, Assam has now delivered 1,24,345 jobs.
He emphasized that this move fulfills a long-standing demand of teachers in Assam. Furthermore, he announced plans to create 50,000 more jobs by May 2025, pushing the total to 2 lakh jobs. Importantly, Sarma assured that each job has been delivered without a single instance of corruption.
This initiative underscores the Assam Government’s commitment to strengthening the state’s education system while keeping its promises to the people.

By May 2025 we will create 50,000 more jobs taking the total jobs to 2 lakhs.
Each of these jobs have been delivered without a single instance of corruption.
