Assam State Government Employees Receive 4% Dearness Allowance Hike
Desk Report,, March 14, 2024: In a significant development benefiting state government employees in Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma declared a 4% increase in dearness allowance (DA) on March 14. Speaking at a press conference in Guwahati, CM Sarma confirmed that the DA hike would be effective from January 1, 2024.
Acknowledging the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Chief Minister informed that the government would disburse the increased amount to employees and pensioners in installments. With this latest increment, the dearness allowance for state government employees has reached 50%.
The disbursement of arrears will be staggered, with the first installment scheduled for May, followed by the second in June, and the final installment in July. This phased approach aims to facilitate smooth financial management for both the employees and the government.

Furthermore, CM Sarma unveiled crucial decisions regarding the recruitment of Grade IV employees in Lower Primary (LP) and Middle English (ME) Schools across Assam. He announced that LP, ME, and Higher Secondary Class IV employees would be recruited in their respective villages based on merit.
