Assam CM Pushes for Swift Resumption of Majuli-Jorhat Brahmaputra Bridge Construction
Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has called for urgent action to resume construction on the Majuli-Jorhat Brahmaputra Bridge. During a video conference with the Director General and Special Secretary of Road Development, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, the Chief Minister stressed the project’s critical importance for regional connectivity.
The meeting reviewed the project’s progress and discussed challenges halting the bridge’s construction. Dr. Sarma urged officials to prioritize resumption efforts, emphasizing how vital the bridge is for Majuli’s residents and Assam’s infrastructure.
The Chief Minister highlighted that any delay could impact economic activities and daily life for thousands who rely on the bridge for transport. He called for collaboration between stakeholders to address bottlenecks swiftly and ensure timely execution.
This bridge, spanning the Brahmaputra, aims to significantly enhance connectivity between Majuli, a river island, and Jorhat, boosting commerce and accessibility. The government remains committed to expediting infrastructure projects vital for Assam’s development.
