Assam Extends “Apon Ghar” Scheme to 2026 for Enhanced Home Ownership Benefits
Guwahati, July 20, 2024: The Government of Assam, under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, has announced the extension of the “Apon Ghar” interest subvention scheme until March 31, 2026. This initiative aims to support government employees in owning a home within the state.
From April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2026, the scheme will provide a 1% interest subvention on home loans. The threshold limit for these loans has been significantly increased from Rs 15 lakh to Rs 30 lakh.
Key details of the enhanced benefits include:
– No mortgage is required for loans up to Rs 30 lakh.
– A mortgage is necessary only if the repayment period extends up to the age of 70 for employees with pensionable service.
– The enhanced amount applies exclusively to new beneficiaries constructing or purchasing houses/flats within Assam.
All other terms and conditions of the “Apon Ghar” scheme remain unchanged. This extension reflects the government’s commitment to facilitating home ownership for its employees, providing them with the means to secure housing within the state.
