Amit Shah’s Silchar Showdown: Enthusiasm Galore as BJP Rallies Ahead of Assam Polls
Silchar, April 21, 2024: Union Home Minister Amit Shah led a spirited roadshow in Silchar, Cachar district, as part of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) campaign ahead of the second phase of Lok Sabha Polls in Assam. The roadshow, spanning 2 kilometers, saw enthusiastic participation from supporters who rallied behind BJP candidate Parimal Suklabaidya. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma joined Shah during the event, further amplifying the BJP’s campaign efforts in the region.
Commencing from the District Sports Association point in Silchar, the roadshow traversed through Central Road, Premtala, Ambikapatty, and Hospital Road before concluding at Radhamadhav Road. Reports indicated a massive turnout of supporters waving BJP flags and chanting slogans such as ‘Modi-Shah Zindabad’, ‘BJP Zindabad’, ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’, and ‘Jai Shri Ram’.
Taking to a public platform, Chief Minister Sarma lauded the vibrant atmosphere of the roadshow, attributing it to the confidence people have in the transformative initiatives expected during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s anticipated third term.
Silchar, a crucial Lok Sabha constituency in Assam, witnesses a triangular contest between BJP’s Parimal Suklabaidya, Congress candidate Surya Kanta Sarkar, and TMC’s Radheyshyam Biswas. The upcoming second phase of general elections, scheduled for April 26, will cover 89 Lok Sabha constituencies across 13 states, including Assam. Notable constituencies heading to the polls in Assam on this date include Karimganj, Silchar, Darrang-Udalguri, Nogaon, and Diphu.
