Health Department Official in Nagaon Held by Assam Vigilance Over Bribe Demand

October 09: In a decisive move against corruption, the Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption (DVAC), Assam, on Thursday apprehended Shravan Kr. Bora, District Programme Manager (DPM) of the Office of the Joint Director of Health Services, Nagaon, while accepting a bribe of ₹10,000 from a complainant.

According to official sources, Bora was caught red-handed immediately after taking the bribe, which he had demanded in exchange for processing the complainant’s incentive arrear bill. Acting promptly on the complaint, the vigilance team laid a well-planned trap that led to Bora’s arrest.

The bribe amount was recovered from the accused official in the presence of independent witnesses, confirming the allegations. Following the arrest, necessary legal procedures were initiated, and a formal case has been registered under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
