Fatal Road Accident on National Highway 17: Gauripur Police Apprehends Fleeing Truck Driver After Collision Leaves Two Severely Injured
Dhubri, February 29, 2024: In a tragic incident on National Highway 17 within the Alamganj Geramari area, under the jurisdiction of the Gauripur police station, a fatal road accident occurred. The victims, an E-Rickshaw driver and a pedestrian, sustained serious injuries when they were struck by a speeding truck transporting sand. The incident unfolded as the truck, bearing registration number AS 17 B 8908, traveled from Gauripur towards Bagribari. The collision resulted in the truck veering off the road, injuring the two individuals. Unfortunately, the driver of the truck fled the scene immediately after the incident.

Quick response by the Gauripur police led to the apprehension of the absconding truck driver, who was discovered at a residence in the nearby area. The driver was subsequently taken into custody for further investigation at the police station. One of the injured victims resides in North Geramari, while the identity of the second individual remains unknown. Both casualties, in critical condition, were swiftly transported to a local hospital with the assistance of residents from the community.
