Drugs Worth ₹66 Crore Seized in Joint Operation by STF and Karimganj Police
Guwahati, June 13, 2024: In a significant crackdown on narcotics trafficking, a joint operation conducted by the Special Task Force and the Karimganj Police resulted in the seizure of a substantial quantity of drugs valued at ₹66 crore. The operation, spearheaded by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Parthasarathi Mahanta and Superintendent of Police (SP) Partha Protim Das, took place in the Lamajuar area under the jurisdiction of Badarpur Police Station in Karimganj district at approximately 4 PM yesterday.
During the operation, authorities uncovered 2,20,000 Yaba tablets meticulously concealed within the secret compartments of two backlights of a Bolero camper vehicle. Notably, the vehicle, which bore no registration number, was also seized as part of the operation.
Three individuals have been apprehended in connection with the drug haul. The arrested suspects have been identified as Khairul Hussain, who was the driver, along with Mamon Miya and Nabir Hussain. All three individuals are residents of the state of Tripura.
