Qatar Airways Flight from Doha to Dublin Encounters Severe Turbulence, Injuring 12
Desk Report, May 26, 2024: A Qatar Airways flight from Doha to Dublin encountered severe turbulence today, resulting in injuries to twelve individuals, including six crew members. The incident occurred while the aircraft was over Turkey, as confirmed by a post from Dublin Airport on X (formerly known as Twitter).
“Qatar Airways flight QR017 from Doha landed safely as scheduled at Dublin Airport shortly before 13:00 on Sunday. Upon landing, the aircraft was met by emergency services, including Airport Police and our Fire and Rescue department, due to 6 passengers and 6 crew [12 total] on board reporting injuries after the aircraft experienced turbulence while airborne over Turkey,” stated Dublin Airport.
Emergency services promptly attended to the injured upon the plane’s arrival. The Dublin Airport team is providing full assistance to the affected passengers and airline staff.
This incident follows closely on the heels of another turbulent flight involving Singapore Airlines. Five days prior, a passenger was killed, and dozens were injured on a flight from London to Singapore due to turbulence.
Further details regarding the condition of those injured on the Qatar Airways flight have yet to be disclosed. The airline and relevant authorities are expected to conduct a thorough investigation into the event.
