Karimganj, January 13, 2024 – In a major breakthrough, the Karimganj police have successfully dismantled a dangerous car theft gang responsible for a series of heinous crimes, including the murder of innocent driver. The arrests, made on January 12, 2024, shed light on a dark operation involving the hiring of vehicles, fatal attacks on drivers, and subsequent car thefts.
On December 9, 2023, the gang’s brutality came to public attention when Mithu Biswas was assaulted and left in critical condition near the Shillong bypass. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Mithu tragically succumbed to his injuries. The shocking incident prompted an immediate police investigation, leading to the identification and subsequent arrest of the culprits.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Arun Das and Pinto Das from Ramkrishna Nagar, Azimuddin from Fatehpur, Jasimuddin from Patharkandi, and Raju Hussain Borbhuyan. The gang’s gruesome activities involved hiring vehicles, murdering the drivers, and stealing the cars.
