Government Officials Nabbed in Bribery Red handed
Desk Report, March 18, 2024: In a significant crackdown on corruption, the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption has apprehended three government officials red-handed for accepting bribes.
The first arrest involved Nanda Hazarika, an employee of APDCL stationed in Nagaon, who was caught accepting a bribe while serving as a Switch Board Operator at the APDCL sub-division 2 office.
Subsequently, Brajendra Nath Das, a Child Development Project Officer at the Boro Bazar ICDS Project in Bijni, was nabbed after accepting illicit payments near the office of the SDO (Civil), Bijni, for bill processing.

The third individual apprehended was Harendra Nath Baishya Bania, an AFS Treasury Officer stationed in Kamrup (M). Baishya was caught accepting a bribe within his chamber at the O/o the DC, Kamrup (M), Guwahati, in exchange for approving a challan for the purchase of stamps.
These arrests underscore the persistent issue of bribery within certain government offices, highlighting the ongoing battle against corrupt practices.
