Dhubri Forest Department Seizes Illegal Stone Transport in Major Crackdown
Dhubri, July 09, 2024: In a significant crackdown on illegal activities, the Dhubri Forest Department seized two stone-laden dumpers during a night patrol operation in Golakganj. The dumpers, carrying consignment meant for the Sonahat International Trade Centre, Golakganj from Srirampur of BTR, were abandoned by their drivers upon sighting the forest personnel.
The seized vehicles, bearing the registration numbers NL 01 AJ 0436 and NL 01 AH 1160, were promptly taken into custody by the authorities. The drivers managed to escape, leaving the dumpers behind on the road.
The operation was led by Sofiqur Rahman, Forest Ranger of the Forest Check Station in Dhubri. The Forest Department has initiated an investigation to trace the origins of the illegal consignment and identify the culprits involved in the smuggling operation.
“The forest department is committed to curbing illegal activities and ensuring the protection of our natural resources,” stated Rahman. “We will continue our efforts to bring those responsible to justice.”
This latest action underscores the ongoing challenges faced by the authorities in combating illegal trade and protecting the region’s environmental integrity.
